Long-term car rental in Serbia

For those who moved to Serbia for a while or are waiting for their own car: a car for a month, several months or longer.

How it differs from daily rental

The daily price is usually lower than for a short rental. The terms are often set in a separate contract with a monthly mileage limit. The details depend on the company.

What to discuss in advance

Monthly mileage and the price above the limit, the deposit, insurance and excess, a replacement car in case of a breakdown, servicing and tyres, extension and early return, and cross-border travel. On insurance and excess: rental insurance.

Documents

Passport, driving licence and, if required, an international driving permit. Residents sometimes need a document proving their stay: check with the company. More: documents for renting.

Payment

Payment is usually monthly, and some companies ask for a prepayment. Cards issued by Russian banks, as a rule, do not work abroad, so prepare another way to pay. See payment and deposit and renting without a credit card.

When renting beats buying

If you are in the country for a limited time, renting saves you the registration, insurance and resale of a car. For a long term, compare the rental price with leasing or buying, and ask the police (MUP) how the rules on using a foreign licence apply to your status.

Pick a car

Choose the city and dates: the price has no hidden fees. The contract is signed directly with the rental company.
