How to rent a car in Serbia if you come from Russia or the CIS
A short step-by-step guide from choosing a car to returning it. The rental company sets the terms, and we help you through every step in Russian.
Step 1. Choose a car and dates
Open the catalogue and enter the city and dates. The price depends on the car class, the length of the rental and the season: the longer the rental, the lower the daily price. Each car page shows the deposit, the mileage limit and the cross-border terms. Car types: crossovers, convertibles, minivans.
Step 2. Send a request
The request takes a couple of minutes. Give your dates, pick-up and return places and your contacts (WhatsApp, Telegram, Viber or Max). We pass the request to the rental company and come back with a confirmation.
Step 3. Confirm the details
We check availability, the final price, the deposit, the payment method and permission to cross borders. All agreements are fixed before you arrive. More on trips to neighbouring countries: cross-border travel.
Step 4. Prepare documents and payment
You need a passport, the original driving licence and, if required, an international driving permit. Cards issued by Russian banks, as a rule, do not work abroad, so prepare cash or a card from a foreign bank. More: documents for renting, payment and deposit, renting without a credit card.
Step 5. Pick up the car
Inspect the car with the staff member, photograph any damage, check the fuel level and equipment and sign the contract with the rental company. The vehicle documents and the insurance policy must be in the car. What exactly to check: the pick-up checklist.
Step 6. Return the car
Return the car at the agreed time and place, with the same fuel level unless the contract says otherwise. After the inspection the deposit is released or refunded.

How long does booking take?
A request takes a couple of minutes to send. Confirmation depends on the rental company: usually within a working day.
Do I need to pay online?
No. Payment and the deposit go to the rental company when you pick up the car. Svoi Rent does not take money for the rental.
Can I rent without a visa or residence permit?
Entry rules depend on nationality and change, so check them on the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. For the rental you need a passport and a driving licence, and the company may ask for more documents.
